Old Path Baptist Church is more than just a building — it’s a testimony. A roadside sanctuary where second chances are handed out like bulletins and the pastor’s sermon might just include a story about outrunning the cops in a Pinto. This ain’t your grandma’s church. But it might save your soul.

Tucked just behind the gas station in Sandy Shores, Old Path is a place for outcasts, sinners, bikers, ex-cons, wanderers, and anyone else who needs something real. No judgment. Just grace. And maybe a plate of hot cornbread after service.

Chapter 1 The Dusty Start

The Dusty Start Raised in rural Grapeseed by a gospel-singing mother and a hard-drinking war vet, Martin grew up balancing Bible verses with back-alley brawls. His early life was a mix of street smarts and Sunday school — a contradiction he never quite outgrew.

Chapter 2: The Wrong Path

By 17, Martin had dropped out of school and dropped into gang life. Running jobs for Los Santos Vagos, he became a legend known as “Old Dog,” a sharp-tongued wheelman with a snub-nosed revolver named Betty Lou. His life was fast, dirty, and dangerous. The consequences? His brother: Killed in gang violence. His daughter: Estranged. His body: Broken in a near-fatal crash that left him in a coma for six months.

Chapter 3: The Turning Point

At 82, Martin woke from the coma with a vision of God Himself — in a lawn chair, under a tree, asking: "You gon’ fix what you broke, or you want me to send you on home?" He chose redemption. He left the streets. And he built a church — Old Path Baptist — with what little strength and savings he had left.

Chapter 4: The Pastor of Sandy

Now, Martin preaches with a raspy voice, a tattered Bible, and a pack of Newports. His church is small, but full of people just like him — folks looking for another shot. His sermons are unpredictable, raw, and sometimes hilarious. But they’re honest. “You ain’t gotta be perfect. You just gotta show up. That’s how I found the Lord — late, limpin’, and still a little drunk. But He took me anyway.”
